DYINGLIGHT – just RUN

SO the latest and recurring theme this year in games appears to be survival horror and I would say that Dyinglight proves to be no different if it wasn’t for the fact that it takes the freaking zombie cake. If the trailer is not enough to get you hyped up for this PS4 masterpiece go see a doctor, your dead inside.

The game features around an open world, apocalypse where the dead are walking and chomping their way through where-ever it is you are, good news? There slow by day but steroid hulks at night, not to mention the other things that can go bump once darkness falls. Here’s the official descrip. :

” During the day, you cross a rich and varied city environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population.

At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. You’ll need to use everything in your power to survive until the morning’s first light.”

Ignore for the minute that the graphics are ridik – like most PS4 upcoming games but pause if you will for the chance at a realistic horror zombie game, where your not just worried about being eaten but also what you yourself are going to eat. As the trailer shows you and a merry band of (social) misfits go all ‘urban runner’ in an attempt to secure an army ‘care package’ before anyone else (good luck with that.) which means hunger may (pleas) play a part in this game, sorry to the hard core action button slammers but I’m an imerssive gamer and I like my games difficult.

 

 Just look at that environs…awesome. Not only that but yep, you’ve guessed it there is a rotating day and night cycle and let me tell you if the fuckers are deadly in the ay, when night falls…just run.

DEEP, DEEP,DEEP – uh, DOWN.

Thar be dragons here…

So let me introduce you to one of the games i’m especially hyped up about (mostly due to the insane trailer) DEEP DOWN!(working title).

The premise is you and a few rpg stereotypes go ‘deep down’ ( 😀 ) a dungeon to slay a dragon, but what’s this? The player asks another for help via a forum? And is that a helicopter we hear? INCEPTION! That’s right, folks; Deep Down is game within a game within a dungeon within a plot twist…with in a game. Sadly details are sparse and we are expecting the game 2014 (like most other ps4 games). For now though feel free to gwark over this magical, beautiful (and possible not all gameplay ) trailer. PS. Is it me or does the elf look strangely like ‘Zaeed’ from Masseffect 2 + 3? Total Badass.

UPDATE: 15/10/2013

I just came across these lil snippets straight of the press in Nippon (japan duh) It appears that the game is RPG with hit points and health bars but with real time fighting, It even appears hat damage  strength is dictated by where you hit your opponent, straight in the goblin eye for example. Details coming in that the game is ‘free to play’ whether that means its an online MMORPG is yet to be confirmed but what is shown via the videos is that you can play with up to 3 friends. Now all you have to do is find three friends to play with…

 

 

PS4

This thing.

This is why I will not be playing beyond two souls with the rest of you. I have a confession to make, you may want to sit down for this – I don’t have a PS3, or an XBOX 360 indeed the last console I owned was a PS2 slim. I know, I know, shocking that one so nerdy had learned how to live vicariously through others instead of playing console limited games themselves. That’s the point, I can’t do it anymore.

 

So instead of forking out for a PS3 when it’s about to be replaced anyway… I will be saving my moneis for this bad boy. Why PS4 over XBOX? Simple.

XBOX is for multiplayers PS4 is for lone wolves. Now you can do either/or on each console but you know which one is dedicated to which and I just plain don’t play well with others. The only reason I have a STWTOR account is because bioware made it and i missed mass effects dialogue wheel.

It’s powerful, it will be able to play PS3 games so two birds one stone, although not initially, but  I can wait. It also has a number of cool new titles coming out which I will be blogging about shortly, I’m sure.
