Hi guys,

As you can imagine I have a heck of a lot to catch up on and by proxy – to catch YOU up on.

So what have I been up to? Playing games mostly. I mean – work, yes, lots of work (and gaming *cough*)

Specifically I have been ‘reviewing’ the PS4 and I like what we have seen so far but let me give you a quick run down:

COD4 – SUCKED (story and mechanics)

BF4 – SUCKED (just the mechanics and kind of the story)

Wolfenstein – AWESOME! (story and mechanics)

And as most of you know that’s really all the games that there are on the PS4 except for Knack (i’m not even sure what that is) and the hobbit lego and as much as I love the hobbit (REALLY) I’m not paying £50 to play a watered down parody – Nope.

So whats on my to play list?

I’m so glad you asked:

WATCH DOGS MAY 27th – stay tuned for a review

ELDER SCROLLS ONLINE! – can’t decide between PS4 and PC – your thoughts?

AND MANY MORE!!!!!!!!!!!

Suffice to say i will soon be blowing your minds with ‘detailed run downs’, ‘what we know’s’, and reviews coming out the ying yang  – I say again we have a lot to catch up on. so bear with me troops. It’ll be worth the wait.

What have you been up to gaming wise lately, I’d love to know. Leave a comment below.

My triumphant return!!!!

Or not – apologies for my absence and subsequent void in your lives, suffice to say I have been UBER busy with work (I have a day job you know!) and computer malfunctions (not fun) but now all is well!

So let’s get back to it shall we?

Let Me Tell You a Story; about A man called Stanley.

In other gaming news this week it’s the return of the indie mind fuck classic THE STANLEY PARABLE!!!!!!!!!

No it’s not another patch for the original short yet memorable game. But rather the new, refined, different story based on the original which still has many gamers talking, not in the least due to imaginative story-telling and the sultry voice of the omnipresent (and sometimes douche bag) narrator. For those of you not in the know, the stanley parable (original) was it’s own game made as a half-life 2 mod which is free to play, without the need of half-life 2. It follows you, Stanley as you follow (or don’t follow) the narrator who leads you to freedom, death, or insanity depending on his mood and your actions. And matter your actions DO.

It is strongly recommended that you play the Stanley parable…

Still here or have played it before? Time for the good bits. As part of the development for the Stanley Parable GAME release, a demo has been released which I have pkayed and let me tell you it lives up to the hype of its predesessor with the same narrator and same hilarious gameplay. Although it only reveals the mechanics and theme of the game not the actual game itself, which is still very hush-hush. I will be posting a video of the demo shortly in the mean time please feast your eyes on this epic win over a shitty fan the developers made.

SO the latest and recurring theme this year in games appears to be survival horror and I would say that Dyinglight proves to be no different if it wasn’t for the fact that it takes the freaking zombie cake. If the trailer is not enough to get you hyped up for this PS4 masterpiece go see a doctor, your dead inside.

Give us a kiss…

The game features around an open world, apocalypse where the dead are walking and chomping their way through where-ever it is you are, good news? There slow by day but steroid hulks at night, not to mention the other things that can go bump once darkness falls. Here’s the official descrip. :

” During the day, you cross a rich and varied city environment overrun by a vicious outbreak, scavenging the world for supplies and crafting weapons to defend against the growing infected population.

At night, the hunter becomes the hunted, as the infected become aggressive and more dangerous. Most frightening are the predators which only appear after sundown. You’ll need to use everything in your power to survive until the morning’s first light.”

you may want to do as they say…

Ignore for the minute that the graphics are ridik – like most PS4 upcoming games but pause if you will for the chance at a realistic horror zombie game, where your not just worried about being eaten but also what you yourself are going to eat. As the trailer shows you and a merry band of (social) misfits go all ‘urban runner’ in an attempt to secure an army ‘care package’ before anyone else (good luck with that.) which means hunger may (pleas) play a part in this game, sorry to the hard core action button slammers but I’m an imerssive gamer and I like my games difficult.

Just look at that environs…awesome. Not only that but yep, you’ve guessed it there is a rotating day and night cycle and let me tell you if the fuckers are deadly in the ay, when night falls…just run.

So will you be daring to free run? Comment below.

Thar be dragons here…

So let me introduce you to one of the games i’m especially hyped up about (mostly due to the insane trailer) DEEP DOWN!(working title).

The premise is you and a few rpg stereotypes go ‘deep down’ ( 😀 ) a dungeon to slay a dragon, but what’s this? The player asks another for help via a forum? And is that a helicopter we hear? INCEPTION! That’s right, folks; Deep Down is game within a game within a dungeon within a plot twist…with in a game. Sadly details are sparse and we are expecting the game 2014 (like most other ps4 games). For now though feel free to gwark over this magical, beautiful (and possible not all gameplay ) trailer. PS. Is it me or does the elf look strangely like ‘Zaeed’ from Masseffect 2 + 3? Total Badass.

UPDATE: 15/10/2013

I just came across these lil snippets straight of the press in Nippon (japan duh) It appears that the game is RPG with hit points and health bars but with real time fighting, It even appears hat damage  strength is dictated by where you hit your opponent, straight in the goblin eye for example. Details coming in that the game is ‘free to play’ whether that means its an online MMORPG is yet to be confirmed but what is shown via the videos is that you can play with up to 3 friends. Now all you have to do is find three friends to play with…

Dragon age 3 – inquisition – what we know so far: oct 2013

Hold on to your hats, details coming in hot and fast.

So I know there was a lot of speculation as to WHERE DA3 would be set, some said Orlais some said elsewhere but guess what? It’s set EVERYWHERE! That’s right homie, saddle up, were going to Thedas or and BTW – it’s open world. As in RED DEAD REDEMPTION as in GTA as in every rockstar game we love open world! And as the demos i’m uploading will show. It totally works.

Now the reason for the change up and quite frankly epic sized world is due to the fact that the events or ‘problem’ in DA3 is that ‘the veil’ which stops all the big and nasties descending on the world has been ripped to shred by an unknown foe and so, yeah, demons be descending ALL OVER THE WORLD. And you play an Inquisitor of the chantry sent to find and stop the madness before the world gets engulfed in a kind of UBER blight. With me so far? Ok good.

Next up, you inquisitor can be human, elf, dwarf (hurrah!) rouge, warrior and…mage? Hold up, the chantry hates mages…well that should make for some interesting game play, magic looks awesome in game as well as you will see. (I’m a mage in DA so woop for me!)

Being inquisitor you are in charge, as In you can actually send people on missions, more on that later, and you don’t answer to anyone! Freaking sweet!

But we are also promised that being the BOSS can lead to making difficult decisions with far reaching repercussions (BIOWARE STYLE SON) which is a great part of the role playing elements that made me fall in love with DA in the first place. Although I prefer to play games as how I would react I am tempted to go full renegade as a power hungry religious inquisitor, spanish inquisition style!!!!

Romance is back – wunderbar. Unfortunately no details as to the whom and how but I can confirm tat it wont be a case of raising points on a love bar but more to do with choices made in certain character events.

Anyway the best way to explain it is to show it to you so I have found a few good vids to sate that appetite of yours.

So…what ya thinking?

Ok so maybe it’s still early days to do a ‘what we know’ but I feel the need to give you as much information as I have been able to dig up, which as we know is the whole reason I started this blog, because I am freaking relentless and ya’ll deserve to know the truth!….about sims…

BTW!: I know some of you have been wondering as to what happened with my legacy challenge – the idea was that in preparation for a review of the sims 3 in time for 4 I would do the legacy challenge with most of the expansions and stuff packs, I did it for a while and I’m going to be honest (sorry!) I got bored.

Which pretty much sums up the sims 3 for me in the first place. My Point? I got excited for the sims 3 , bought all the stuff (well, most) and played for hours…then i’d get bored, tune out and return to it days later, abandon my old character and make a new one and yep, you’ve guessed it, get bored again… I really tried but I suppose I am just a casual gamer when it comes to the sims 3, 2+ 1 I was ON IT. But 3 was hyped up so much it did disappoint me a little (RABBIT HOLES) anyway not that it was a bad game, it was a great game but I just feel that they left a lot of the great things about 2 out and could have done more with what they had, coupled with the extortionate prices for expansion and stuff packs ( MAXIS, I DON’T BLAME YOU This has EA written all over it…) well you get the idea. Having said that, I played today and had a fulfilling few hours building houses until my battery ran out ( >:/ ) Create a style remains by far the best thing about the sims 3 in this humble blogger’s opinion but here’s the shocker:

In fact Sims 4 has re-imagined how to build houses making it faster and ‘easier’ but better? Yet to be seen, I like building houses from scratch but as a few demos have demonstrated there is a new ‘choose and click’ or click and drag approach to houses and rooms in 4.

I know I touched on this previously and I posted a viedo of the new emotion game-play dynamic but I just thought we would revisit it in more detail for this run down.

So cranky sims huh?

I’m sure that these element will add to the story teller sims players but for casual and even strategic players like myself I have a feeling that these emotions will hamper progress in a big way – i.e. your trying to get your sims to learn a skill for a promotion but they are feeling depressed so you spend a bucket load of sim hours trying to make them happy instead of enjoying the game and doing what you actually want – see?

But maybe I’m just being pessimistic.

That is all.

I would put out for an astronaut – NASA – pass that along please x

One of the things I AM excited about for the new sims is the promise of more realistic sim AI IE (woah) talking in groups, a thing that most of us do naturally our sims can now do to where in the past although you could use the group conversation interaction it was awkward as all get up, now your sims can laze on a couch while someone walks by and can talk to them etc. awesome no?

Then there’s multitasking, sit on the sofa, talk on the phone and watch tv ALL AT THE SAME TIME! THEY’VE GONE MAD I TELL YOU!!!!!! But honestly its these little things that make a difference to immersion game play and I’m really thankful 9providing they pull it off) that it will save sooooo much simtime, anyone else tired of taking an hour to prepare dinner when your sims has a dozen other stuff to do as well?

Lastly on this subject – imagine your sims wants to go from A to B, but there are other sims in the way? This scenario literally caused dread for every simmer BUT FEAR NO MORE!, now, like real people, you sims can now glide between obstacles that they can actually fit through – THANK YOU WATCHER!

5. Create a sim:

Now we all know by this point that create a sim operates on a new click and drag system for faces and body’s essentially molding your sims like clay which I am also very interested in testing out myself. BUT did you also know that there are advanced options for each feature as well? Such as changing Iris size of a sims yes? This is a new level of detail that sliders just could not master in previous sims and other games. So Here I have included a couple of videos with create a sims at gamescom. Enjoy. Incidentally – walk styles and voices are a go – no word on traits yet.

So thats my round up of sims things we know so far, I hope you found this informative I will be doing an update around december time, unless the release a boat load of new information sooner.
